Jennifer Harman, one of the best poker players!
According to so many reviews and tops made throughout the time, there is no surprise in stating that Jennifer Harman is one of the best poker players out there. What’s the main thing that should cross your mind when uttering her name? She is one of the only three females who has ever won two World Series of Poker bracelets.
- 2000 – $5,000 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw – Prize: $146,250
- 2002 – $5,000 Limit Hold’em – Prize: $212,440
But let’s study her story and see how she got to the peak of her career.
Career and gambling earnings
Statistics point out that her best live cash earnings got to ~383,000 while her total live earnings got to an impressive amount: ~2,700,000.
How did she get there? Well, the media stated that it all began with a 5-minute tutoring from Howard Lederer in 2000 when she attended the No Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball Event. This was the exact moment when she won her first World Series of Poker bracelet. Taking into account that up to that point she has never played the game at a pro level, we can agree it’s a real achievement!
Her childhood marked the first steps she made towards her passion and future source of income – gambling. When she was 8-years old, she began playing poker for real cash, and guess what? She began to win more and more often, beating older players with a lot more experience.
But why poker? Her father was also passionate about poker so she took baby steps watching him play and stealing game strategy. When she finally understood the process, she got to the table herself – her father couldn’t stand a chance in front of her ambition and lost each and every time.
Jennifer Harman, known as a strategic player
Jennifer is known today for her courage in stressful moments of the game. She is fierce in high-stakes cash games and loves to play in Vegas.
But, there is much more to say about her.. Things were not always about winning. She even got to a bankruptcy point when she started her own business. What got her out of this financial crisis? Gambling!
But, let’s see the entire process, from its early beginnings. When she was 16, she even used a fake ID to get into poker rooms and experience the real challenge. Of course, the stakes were higher and she often lost. However, this is said to have put the basis for the player that she is today.
Gambling helped her!
When she was a student, her first jobs were as a waitress, and the money she got from tips was invested in her passion for poker. Back then, she studied Biology.
After some years of playing poker and earning her income from this, she wanted to stop it and started her own business. It turned out a real failure. Playing poker soon got her out of the depressing state and back into the business. She continued playing poker, improving her skills and taking part in all sorts of poker events that brought her impressive amounts of money.
Here are some of her best achievements in tournaments:
- 2007 WSOPE – Event 1, HORSE; 2nd place, winning £40,688.00
